This conference was the first time the serious mentoring and coaching branches in Norway had a conference together.
I represented EMCC Norway and gave a speech/presentation/introduction to EMCC Norway and our way of thinking. Hope you will comment what your thoughts are on the speech.
Her is the manuscript for the speech:
Dear colleagues, coaches, mentors, curious minds and human-hearted friends –
Welcome to Bridging the Gap – Preserving Humanity in a Chaotic World.
It almost sounds like a Netflix documentary… but luckily, this is the real deal.
And – let’s be honest – we need it.
The world is spinning. And not necessarily in the right direction.
While AI is learning empathy (or at least trying to),
many humans struggle to remember what it feels like to look each other in the eyes and ask:
«How are you, really?»
In the middle of that chaos – we stand.
We – the coaches. The mentors.
The professional listeners, with existential wrinkles on our foreheads
and a coffee cup as an extension of our hand.
We’re here because we believe in something radical:
That humanity still matters.
That relationships still matter.
That how we live, lead and love – truly shapes the future.
And that, my friends, is pretty edgy in 2025.
At a time when everything must be measured, optimized and scaled –
we stand here to remind the world of what cannot be measured:
Dignity. Authenticity. Presence.
Bridging the Gap is not just about connecting generations, cultures or technological paradigms.
It’s also about bridging the gap between head and heart.
Between what we can do – and what we should.
Between performance – and meaning.
And that’s where EMCC’s values come in – like a moral backbone:
Competence – because this is not just golden-wrapped small talk.
Ethics – because without integrity, coaching is just verbal yoga.
Diversity and inclusion – not as decoration, but as foundation.
Show me one solution that works for everyone –
and I’ll show you the PowerPoint presentation from hell.
But let’s be honest:
The coaching industry has gaps of its own to bridge.
We can’t pretend that just calling ourselves “coach” makes us empathetic, well-informed superheroes.
We must be just as curious about our own blind spots as we are about others’ growth potential.
It starts with us.
And that’s why this moment is so special:
Because this is the first time the coaching industry in Norway has come together like this.
At EMCC, we are proud and grateful to be part of this exciting development.
We’re collaborating to make our industry even better – and that collaboration is already delivering results.
Together, we’ve helped develop a national coaching standard in Norway –
and through that process, we’ve experienced the true power of learning from each other.
How much stronger we become when we share knowledge, inspiration and insight
across coaching approaches, traditions and backgrounds.
This is what bridge building looks like.
And this – exactly this – is what we are here to celebrate today.
